Depression in Youth

India is a developing country but ranks high in being the most depressed country. Every day we hear many crimes done by teenager. The age which is so innocent and full of life is getting drowned and taking up an ugly shape at a high rate. Youth are the face on whom we rely for the betterment of India and betterment of life. Today people with stable financial condition are also suffering with depression. They start feeling tired throughout the day followed by sleepless nights. Get tensed and has reduced appetite. They isolate themselves from relatives and friends and spend days together crying. People also mistook such behaviour as laziness. But such people have ssom kind of emptiness in them.

Today social media like FB, wats app, twitter are at their peak and one of the major reason is pear pressure.People get offended by the living style and financial status of their friends and instead of competing people are getting envied and getting into depression. And when they are not able to cope up with this pressure they are ending their lives. Especially teenagers are suffering from the same. They are not able to take up and fight back. I am especially moved by the teenagers taking such drastic steps whether it is suicide or murder. They are not able to take up the denial which is coming up. Everyone is busy to meet their personal and professional commitments and teenagers are the sufferer as there is no one to understand their depression and pull them out of that depression.
Excess of everything is bad and I feel parents should not encourage this social media madness till they are mature enough to understand their take and their limitation. And we should cultivate the importance of simplicity in their lives. We should always encourage small things that gives happiness like baking, ice cream party with friends. These simple things gives us memories which last with us in worst of times and tell us life is beautiful we should not end it or take it. Learn to say 'No' to your kids. Half of the teenagers are suffering because they cannot take denial. We know time is busy kids need to study, go for extra-curricular classes but they should spend quality time with their family members because these emotional bindings will prevent them from
taking drastic steps.

We should never hesitate in taking any kind of help whether it is medicines or psychological and social interventions. We should always take steps to correct it. This can happen to anyone some have courage to come out of the same while some suffer with it and there is a required pull to take them out from the same. We should pull our near and dear ones from such situation so that they can lead a happy life and be with us forever. Be alert than sorry. Family bond can do miracles and pull people out of any situation. Every step should not be judged they are young birds and they may not have attractive feathers. But they should have an attractive smile always. When you feel they are keeping sad always then that is a wakeup call for you to restore their feathers and teach them to fly again for a new destination. Life is surely not a fairy tale but it is surely a treasure hunt and we should hunt it to find the little treasure of happiness it gets as each folds open.
