Child Marriage

Child marriages are practiced commonly till today for a variety of reasons, including poverty, insecurity, as well as for political and financial reasons. Girls are always treated as burden. If the gals are married early the parents feel they have to feed, educate and provide clothing to less kids. And moreover Dowry paid by the family is less when the girl is young and uneducated. Sometime parents fear the safety of their gals so they tend to marry them off at an early age. Today, child marriages are widespread in many countries, such as parts of Africa, South Asia, Southeast and East Asia, West Asia, Latin America and Oceania.

Married at 13 and got pregnant at 14.After several hours of labor baby would not come out. The passage for the baby head to pass through was very narrow as our dear gal was very young. After several hours of pushing the baby will not come out.
Due to lack of equipment emergency Cesarean Section cannot be performed. So due to pushing hard the tissue around her birth canal and bladder died off, creating a fistula, or hole known as Vesico-Vaginal Fistula, VVF. One of the millions of girls aged 11-18 in the country who become mothers early suffer from this disorder. There is a continuous and uncontrollable leakage of urine from the bladder. And if instead of urine uncontrolled passage of faeces occurs it is referred to as Recto-Vaginal Fistula, RVF.

It usually occurs when a girl who is too young to get pregnant in the first place, suffers prolonged labor without timely access to emergency Cesarean Section. A girl kid when have a kid may either rupture her uterus, and both the girl and the baby may die. The other thing that can happen is VVF/RVF.As a result husband will reject her because she will be smelling of urine and will be sent back to her parents.

Parents are the one who introduces the kid to this world. And its their responsibility to give them a beautiful life. The gals should never suffer the weakness of their parents. They are very tender and we cannot expect them to bring a change. We as a parent are responsible for their upbringing. If we are not financially well then we should never think of bringing the kid in this world. If we are worried about their security then we are the foolish people on earth as if we cannot protect our kids then how can we expect others to protect our kids. And if cultural values are the reason behind then we need to get courage to fight back and be persistent. Persistence will surely bring a change.

Racial discrimination

Racial discrimination is the one which we are hearing every now and then .I always ask one question as to from where this started?

Years before when we were stagnant and didn't had any frequent mode of transportation to travel we used to stay at one place and started becoming biased and protective about of our culture. But as soon as we started traveling and experiencing different groups of people we started fearing of the things that were different. We progressed today rather advanced but still that fear exists. The fear caused disputes and disliking. And I feel this laid the foundation of so called RACISM.

One more fact which can be stressed is the upbringing. Each one of us have different opinions about different culture and since children are immature they pick-up our opinion.

We should give freedom to everyone to stay as they wish they want we should not tell them to adapt to the new place and blend themselves or develop a camouflage to survive the system and to protect themselves from teased or beaten up.We should give each person a chance to be a good person because there is good in all different types of ethnicity.

Racism affect society. The suppressed ethnic group struggle and find it hard in getting job, house. And sometime when they get frustrated they get in the mode of taking revenge. There are many cases of racism happened .Death of a 19-year-old Manipuri boy Richard Loitam in April 2012.January 2014 witnessed Nido Taniam, a 20-year-old student from Arunachal Pradesh beaten up by eight people in Delhi. Many more such incidents are still happening.

I would conclude this with a very famous dialogue of KRANTIVEER "Bata yeh Hindu ka khoon hai ya Muslim ka.Jab banane wale ne fark nahi kiya toh hum kaun hote hai fark karne wale" i.e. The blood flowing from people of all culture is same and when God didn't do any difference then who are we to do?
Can we really put an end to this? The answer is NO.Because Racism is a way used by Human Beings to retaliate the people whom they are not used to.A common tendency to selectively preserve their own kind even at the cost of a different type. Each one of us is associated with a power and each one of us can make a significant difference. So change your mindset and treat everyone equally.

Visual Management :)

An opportunity to view the result of the goal set visually, which you want to achieve before you can pursue it. Its believed that 80% of what we learn is visual. The best example that comes to my mind is Slumdog Millionaire movie where a street kid knows the answer of all the question through the adventures on the road and encounters with local gangs. Each chapter of his life reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions.

For visual management we have a VM board. It should not necessarily be in office only. It can be in home too JJJ.I remember having a paper hanging in my kitchen to track the daily menu JJ.
Why we need it????

VM board Makes the goal clear and visible: This tell us what we need  immediately and what our production goal is. Visualized as the top three priorities.

Give the “score” daily: Tells the start date and completion date of the goal. If we have any road blocks it is listed as ANDONS which is escalated and tracked. It tell us whether we are winning or losing the game of productivity, quality and cost.

Give fast feedback: Any change in the schedule comes to our notice. And the impacts are brought to our notice too. So the crunch situation is dealt efficiently since all aspects are considered.

Inherently escalate problems: The VM board becomes an alert when a process hits a pre-determined performance level that requires action, such as assigning additional resources to a line that has been down too long. This information is conveyed automatically, so the response is immediate—without having to send an email, an instant message or any other type of announcement.

Provides an accurate accounting of problems: When a goal is not achieved , an employee must list a reason. This provides an accurate and complete record of problems. This helps in recording small and common issues which is always missed among large problems.

Ensures instant accountability: Results can be measured and evaluated every day, instead of daily or weekly.

Finally, VM board ensures that each one of us solve our problem and as a team help each other in solving their problem. Working as a team towards common goal which is the foundation of ongoing process improvement is achieved with VM board.

Distraction Risk the Safety.....

Driving Distractions

Driving Distractions is defined as driving while doing another activity that takes your attention away from driving. The facts show that distracted driving can increase the chance of a motor vehicle crash.

Distracted driving activities include things like using a cell phone, texting and eating. Using in-vehicle technologies such as navigation systems, audio systems, and the in-dash touch screens found in many new cars and trucks also distract drivers. While any of these distractions can endanger the driver and others, texting while driving is especially dangerous because it combines all three types of distractions.

Workplace Distractions

Workplace distractions are not monitored like driving distractions, but can be just as dangerous. Talking on the phone while performing a work-related task or walking around distracts a worker’s attention from the task and could result in a damage. I realize that today workers feel that it is their right to stay connected but use it wisely to avoid dangerous situation.

Personal Distractions

Personal distractions can sometimes prevent workers from fully focusing on the job. Employees should be encouraged to bring very stressful problems to management’s attention, stressing that all discussions will be strictly confidential. Personal distractions are the most difficult types of distractions to recognize and control, because many workers will not talk about their problems, so there is no way to know the mental state of the employee.

Other Distraction

One of the major distraction to both managers and employee is the rush to get a job done. Productivity is important but pushing managers and employee to rush through the work causes pressure and a mental distraction that can cause an employee to lose focus of the dangers surrounding them or take a chance to save time. This kind of distraction is an unfortunate situation waiting to happen. Always allow for adequate time to complete the work on time.

Finally I would like to conclude by saying that take time to identify potential distractions and take action to eliminate or control them before the distraction leads to a damage.

A diet to lower Cholesterol....

Unhealthy levels of cholesterol can lead to heart disease or stroke. Many things are determined by genes and gender but what we eat also plays an important role.People try including some tips in your diet which will help you in reducing cholesterol.

Take-up low-fat dairy products instead of whole milk or cream. So many brands of skimmed milk, fat free yogurt are there include them in your diet.

Eat snacks which are low in saturated fats and free of trans fats.Choose low-fat snacks like homemade popcorn, carrots, dried fruits, or fresh fruits instead of high-fat ones like potato chips and candy bars.

The liquid cooking oils should be used more compared to margarine. Use nonstick pans which uses less oil. Instead of frying your food, bake, broil, roast, steam, or stew.

"Dil ko Dharakne do" or protect your heart by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Nuts are very healthy snack item. They are healthful and filling source of protein.

Drink alcohol only in moderation. Regular, moderate drinking can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, but heavy drinking negates the benefits.

Whole-grain products and legumes are low in calories and high in fiber. Eat more water-soluble fiber, such as that found in oat bran and fruits. This type of fiber can significantly lower your blood cholesterol level when eaten in conjunction with a low-fat diet.

An active lifestyle can also help lower cholesterol levels. Activities can range from walking and cycling to more vigorous exercise, such as running and dancing.

Cholesterol in food has impact on cholesterol in the blood .Therefore eating food that contains cholesterol will make difference to the total cholesterol in your body. Cholesterol is a critical chemical. It's a basic building block for virtually every body function.Without it or without adequate amounts, we suffer and die. It's required to create Vitamin D. It's required for nerve function, including all mental functions.Cell membranes would disintegrate without it. Sex hormones require it. Digestion requires it. Even the heart requires it.Since it's so necessary, it's clear lowering cholesterol levels too far must be harmful. It's so important that our bodies have a cholesterol-regulating function. So try eating them in moderation.

Vitamin C and Sinusitis...

Sinusitis is often caused by high histamine levels. When your body is exposed to allergens(food allergens, allergens in the air, such as pollen, mold, dust mites, animal dander, or household cleaning products that release chemical allergens), it releases proteins called histamines, which attach themselves to the cells in your body and cause the cells to become swollen and leaky.

The vitamins helps increasing immunity.Vitamin C is an antihistamine which helps in reducing histamine levels and congestion. Food rich in Vitamin C are strawberries, oranges, lemons, broccoli, tomatoes and blueberries.

For improvement in your sinus take Vitamin C supplement of 1000mg three times a day.If you get upset stomach and diarrhea reduce it.Vitamin C is added to support the adrenal gland.

For maintaining sinus health drink plenty of water. It helps in sinus drainage. Give body proper sleep by good sleep habits.
Do not smoke. The damage done by cigarette smoke to the cells lining the sinuses is devastating. Regular exercise will help boost the immune system and can promote sinus drainage.

Multivitamins really good for health?

Most of us hate eating fruits, vegetables and desserts rank higher on our list.If your idea of the four basic food groups is fried, buttered, sweet and salty, then this write-up is for you. After eating what you want you are happy but the thing which bothers you most is What about our so called Health?? And the answer is a magical little pill called the multivitamin. You take it every day without fail. It says right on the container that it gives you everything you need, so why bother with a balanced diet, right? Not so fast. While multivitamins have their place, they aren't for everyone and they can even cause more harm than benefit in some cases.

Multivitamins are a good way to help supplement a diet for those who don't always have time to shop for fresh vegetables, fruit and whole grains. But most health experts agree that a multivitamin is no replacement for a good, well-balanced diet. In fact, if you do eat a well-balanced diet, you not only have no need for a multivitamin, but you actually could be getting too much of a good thing -- especially when you consider that many foods are already fortified with vitamins and minerals. Supplementing the areas where your diet falls short with specific vitamins may be a better plan if you're a relatively healthy eater.

Here are some basic rules you can use to find a multivitamin that works for you:
For men: You won't need as much iron as a woman, only about eight milligrams per day.Best source are meat, potatoes with the skin on, lentils and beans.

For women: You need extra iron because of a loss of the mineral during monthly menstruation, about 18 milligrams per day. Folic acid is big for women who plan on having children.

For kids: Contrary to what you might think, kids don't really need large amounts of vitamins and minerals. A lot of children's foods are already fortified with vitamins and minerals, so if your child eats a well-balanced diet then he or she may not even need a multivitamin. Vitamin D is important for bone growth and it's difficult to get enough through diet, so most children's multivitamins contain large amounts of it.

For the over-60s: If you're more than 60 years old, then you should probably take a daily multivitamin. Sadly, as we age we lose the ability to absorb certain vitamins and nutrients. B12 is one of these, so multivitamins for older folks contain more of it.

Be your own advocate, do the research and talk to your doctor before you begin taking a multivitamin. If you already take one, compare its ingredients to your diet to make sure you aren't getting too much of any one vitamin or mineral.

Heel Spurs...

Heel spurs are most often seen in middle-aged men and women, but can be found in all age groups. It is often painless but sometime they can cause heel pain. They are frequently mistaken with plantar fasciitis, a painful inflammation of the fibrous band of connective tissue (plantar fascia) that runs along the bottom of the foot and connects the heel bone to the ball of the foot.

Causes of Heel Spurs

1.Sometimes calcium deposits on the underside of the heel bone which causes heel spurs.
2.Heel spurs are often caused by strains on foot muscles and ligaments, stretching of the plantar fascia, and repeated tearing of the membrane that covers the heel bone.

Risk factors for heel spurs include:

Walking gait abnormalities.

Symptoms of Heel Spurs

Heel spurs often cause no symptoms. But heel spurs can be associated with intermittent or chronic pain -- especially while walking, jogging, or running -- if inflammation develops at the point of the spur formation. In general, the cause of the pain is not the heel spur itself but the soft-tissue injury associated with it.

Home remedies for Heel spur:
1. Place your ice-pack on your heel for 10 to 15 minutes at least twice a day.

2. Get some rest. You need to stay off of your aching foot as much as possible for at least a week.
3.Wear night splints (a device that consists of an L-shaped fiberglass splint and wrap a bandage around it to keep it in place while you're asleep) so that it doesn't stretch your plantar fascia while you're sleeping.

4.Stretching exercises

5.Shoe recommendations

Surgery for Heel Spurs

Surgical techniques include:

1.Release of the plantar fascia
2.Removal of a spur

Prevention of Heel Spurs

You can prevent heel spurs by wearing well-fitting shoes with shock-absorbent soles, rigid shanks, and supportive heel counters; choosing appropriate shoes for each physical activity; warming up and doing stretching exercises before each activity; and pacing yourself during the activities.

Avoid wearing shoes with excessive wear on the heels and soles. Lose weight if you're overweight or obese.

Indoor Exercise for weight loss...

Jumping jacks:
jumping jacks are by far my favorite form of home exercise. It's convenient, because I can do them anywhere and I don't have to get out my yoga mat. I don't usually make time for them, I just do them spontaneously, and it little spurts.I like to do them during the openings/endings of tv shows (anime openings/endings are about a minute and a half long each) ,during television commercials and waiting on the microwave.

Its said that if you weigh 120-lb and you perform jumping jacks for about ten minutes, then you will be burning about 76 calories.

Stair Stepping:
Stairs stepping is a low-impact exercise. Stepping at a moderate rate is more challenging and burns more calories within the same amount of time than jogging or cycling. This is because of the vertical climb involved. Stairs stepping is a free exercise that enhances cardiovascular health, bone strength and muscular development.

Jumping rope:
Jumping rope isn't just for kids. It can be an effective way to help your heart, build endurance and burn calories. The number of calories you burn and pounds you lose by jumping rope depends on your weight and the amount of energy you put into the exercise. The longer and faster you jump, the more you stand to lose.

Its said that if you weight 160-lb and you jump rope for an hour then you will burn approximately 730 calories.

Dancing:

I LOVE to dance! Do dancing workout for 1 hour intense/low rythem . Mix it up a bit and increase it to one hour. Add sit-ups, aerobic and Pilates movements depending on your song. i think it is a GREAT workout because you ENJOY it and its different. Do something different every day.

Cleaning:

Cleaning can be very physical, especially vacuum and mopping. If you are unable to go out one day to ride your bike or go for a run, set up a house cleaning schedule and clean your house instead. You might as well kill two birds with one stone!

When you talk about losing weight for normal people its about reducing over-eating but when you talk about thyroid sufferers (so called hypos) weight is not gained by over-eating but because of low metabolism. And there are no miracles here, no short-cuts.

The hypos gain weight due to water retention. There is a build up of sticky substances, such as mucin, under the skin that retains water. So people should correct there TSH(Thyroid stimulating hormone) first which should be between 0.5 to 5.0.Once your TSH is fine then you are like normal person who can lose weight with proper diet and exercise.

The following diagnostic tests may be recommended:

Ultrasound scan - to determine whether you have polycystic ovaries.
Blood test - to determine hormone and cholesterol levels, and screen for diabetes.

Treatments:

Losing weight - If you lose weight your insulin levels also drop, resulting in lower testosterone levels. Lower testosterone is a better environment for ovulation. Lower testosterone improves fertility, reduces excessive hair growth and acne.

The contraceptive pill - if you are not trying to get pregnant and are aiming for regular periods. This treatment will also reduce your long-term risk of developing endometrial cancer if you have no periods.

Metformin (Glucophage) - a medication used for treating diabetes can increase ovulation in patients with PCOS. Metformin may also minimize the health problems caused by insulin resistance, as well as regulating excessively high levels of male hormones.

Wheatgrass - A Wonderful Formulation

Wheatgrass juice is a "Superfood". It is a superior detoxification agent compared to carrot juice and other fruits and vegetables. 15 pounds of wheatgrass is the equivalent of 350 pounds of carrots, lettuce, celery, and so forth. Wheat grass is high in oxygen and contain chlorophyll. Chlorophyll  also called "concentrated sun power" which cleanses the body and neutralizes toxins.

Danny McDonald(74) of Dunaff, Ireland, had stomach cancer which would have killed him within three months, but regular use of wheatgrass for four years saved him and is doing great now.

Wheatgrass has shown benefits for the people suffering from high blood pressure, HIV/AIDS, Irritable bowel syndrome, Memory & concentration ,Mood elevation and eczema ,Multiple sclerosis ,Pre-menstrual tension and poly-cystic ovary syndrome and rheumatoid Arthritis.

Wheatgrass has been great with Thalassaemia patient who are transfused every 3-4 weeks. The usage of wheatgrass decreased the units of blood they needed.

Ann Wigmore can be said as the founder of wheatgrass benefits. She healed herself and the mankind with the help of wheatgrass.

Some people say why use wheatgrass. Any other plant can be used as a source of chlorophyll. Why only wheatgrass???
Wheatgrass is superior because it has been found to have over 100 elements needed by man. If grown in organic soil, it absorbs 92 of the known 102 minerals from the soil.

Wheatgrass can be grown at home.It can be had in powdered or tablet form. But growing wheatgrass and having its juice gives better results than powder/tablet.

20mls of wheatgrass a day is plenty, hold it in your mouth for a couple of minutes before swallowing is a much better way to go. Even better, take a 5ml shot.

Wheatgrass reduces Hangovers....(kidding)

On a  serious note Wheatgrass is hard to beat for general good health and wellbeing. It is a potent healing agent if used carefully and cautiously. It optimizes your health, as it is the powerhouse of nutrition.

Some Healthy Recipe....

I've always heard 80-20(80% eating right and 20% exercise) rule for weight loss. Eating right is very important.Exercise is the icing on the cake to keep the metabolism up and get toned as the weight comes off. Moreover it's easier to keep knock off calories from your diet than it is to burn the calories on a treadmill as it boils down to calorie deficits and nutrient ratios. After attaining a healthy weight, I'd say the importance of exercise for cardiovascular health and keeping weight off goes up significantly and then 50-50(50% eating right and 50% exercise) rule applies.I have pen down some of the recipes which will help you in losing weight if you replace your one meal with any of the below recipes.
